OIDJ Day 1: First Impressions

Today is the first day of my time here in the OIDJ summer program, and so far I have been surprised. I came here expecting a strict, stressful environment with myself racing to get the work done and to remember and absorb all the information. However, I found my first day to be quite relaxed, with me learning more about the coaches and the students that are attending the camp. Getting the chance to know them all better has created a much more comfortable environment which should subdue some of the nerves that were getting to me earlier in the day. By the end of the week, I hope that this workshop will have taught me the skills to be a better writer an journalist.
